Ukraina on šokis, kuna USA presidendi Donald Trumpi väljakuulutatud „energiarahu” puudutab tegelikult vaid vastastikust loobumist rünnakutest naftatöötlemistehastele.
See on Ukraina jaoks valus löök, sest naftatehased on Venemaal ühed vähestest objektidest, mida on olemasolevate droonidega võimalik tõsiselt kahjustada.
Trump is furious with Zelensky
The US president is irritated that Kyiv has no intention of stopping strikes on Russian oil refineries despite the diesel deal between Moscow and Washington.
The White House stresses that such attacks are seriously damaging relations between Trump and Zelensky.
Trump believes Zelensky takes US assistance for granted, which has “really infuriated him,” Axios reports, citing a White House official.
Russia has yet to agree to an energy truce with Ukraine. According to the publication, the two sides could initially agree to stop attacking each other’s oil refineries.
The next step could be a halt to strikes on power plants and energy infrastructure.
A Ukrainian official described such an exchange as unequal: Russia has numerous oil refineries, while Ukraine’s only refinery has been repeatedly attacked and is operating below full capacity.
Ukraine’s top priority is to secure an end to Russian strikes on its energy system.
Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have postponed their trip to Moscow amid the uncertainty.
