Põhja-Aafrikas Liibüas on tohutud üleujutused. Al-Muhayli kõrbest on saanud meri. Liibüas arvatakse üleujutuste tagajärjel olevat hukkunud enam kui 20 tuhat inimest.
Märgitakse, et veega on täitunud endised veesängid, kus pole tuhandeid aastaid vett olnud.
