USA avaldas fotod Vene sõjalennukist, mis esmaspäeval lähenes Läänemere kohal lennates ohtlikult USA lennukile.
Esmaspäeval sõitis Läänemere kohal USA luurelennuk RC-135U, kui sellele lendas külje alla, kõigest mõne meetri kaugusele Vene ründelennuk SU-27. Suure kiiruse ja ebastabiilse lennu tõttu oli USA Euroopa väejuhatuse hinnangul tegemist väga ohtliku olukorraga. Lennukite tiivad olid teineteisest kõigest pooleteise meetri kaugusel.
Vene kaitseministeeriumi teatel tekitas ohtliku olukorra hoopis USA lennuk, mis tegi Vene lennuki läheduses manöövri. USA on selle väite ümber lükanud.
