Midagi absurdsemat on raske välja mõeldagi.”
Lukashenko claimed that Latvia had staged the border incident with Belarus itself “to get money from the European Union and satisfy its desires.”
“We have nothing to do with this—that we supposedly penetrated their territory, masked people, military grabbing or capturing someone, or pushing some group of migrants over there. …Such things were not agreed with me, which means they were not carried out. I know this for sure. You couldn’t come up with greater nonsense,” Lukashenko stated.
On October 6, Latvian authorities reported that armed, masked individuals attempted to traffic around 20 migrants from Belarus, threatened Latvian servicemen, and a few hours later crossed into Latvian territory, damaged an electrical panel, and stole security cameras.
