USA võimud hõivasid täna kolmapäeval, 7. jaanuaril Vene tankeri.

Tanker kandis varem nime Bella 1 ja sõitis Guyana lipu all, see nimetati ümber Marineraks ning viidi Vene lipu alla. Laeva jälitati USA sanktsioonide rikkumisega seoses.

Laev peeti kinni Islandi ja Briti saarte vahel. Vene sõjalaevad väidetavalt ei sekkunud.

Laev oli algselt teel Iraanist Venetsueelasse, aga muutis kurssi, et pääseda hõivamisest.

Tegemist on väidetavalt esimese korraga, kui USA hõivab Vene lipu all sõitva laeva.

USA-d abistasid ka Briti relvajõud, eelkõige luure ja lennuväljade näol.
