Sellist olukorda nagu praegu pole olnud alates teisest ilmasõjast, tunnistas Vene armeejuht Valeri Gerassimov.
„Venemaale vastandub peaaegu kogu Lääs – sellisel tasemel ja intensiivsusega vaenutegevust pole tänapäeva Venemaa ajaloos varem olnud,” ütles Vene relvajõudude peastaabi ülem, armeekindral Valeri Gerassimov.
Gerassimov ütles, et olukorra stabiliseerimiseks, „uute territooriumide” kaitsmiseks ja pealetungioperatsioonide läbiviimiseks pidi peastaap läbi viima osalise mobilisatsiooni.
Pärast teist ilmasõda pole selliseid sündmusi olnud, märkis Gerassimov. Tema sõnul võtab peastaap praegu kasutusele kõik meetmed kõrgeima ülemjuhataja seatud eesmärkide saavutamiseks, samuti riigi sõjalise julgeoleku tagamiseks, lähtudes olemasolevatest sõjalistest ohtudest.
