Leedus lasti pühapäeval, 23. augustil Valgevene rahva toetuseks taevasse punased ja valged õhupallid, mille peale reageerisid Valgevene relvajõud ja need õhupallid puruks tulistas.

Valgevene võimud kinnitasid, et õhupallid kujutasid ohtu Valgevenele. Tulistamise ajal tungisid Valgevene sõjaväekopterid Mi-24 Leedu territooriumile.
